You only need the programming cable you are presently using to update the firmware. Login to my.uniden.com and register your scanner to purchase the DMR upgrade key. The key will be sent to you immediately by email. Make sure you print out the key for future reference. The DMR upgrade already resides in the firmware of the scanner. If your firmware is up to date, entering the key will enable the upgrade. On the scanner, press MENU > Scroll to Settings > Press E > Scroll to Upgrade > Press E > Scroll to DMR/MotoTRBO > Press E > Enter the key to activate the upgrade > Press E > Press SCAN/SEARCH twice to exit the menu.
