I Live over in New Orleans. I have a simple question. If I buy a BCD396T, Do i have to input all nopd and jp police all manually. OR IS there a frequency bank already. Im not that good with scanners. I only know basics.

Thanks in advance,

396T programming

Yes you can do it by hand but you can use the uniden software to program it with your computer using the database right here on RadioReference.
Or
Get the ARC396 software from Butel and if you are not already a subscriber to RadioReference do so and you will be able to download the files directly into your scanner. The later makes things a whole lot easier!
I hope this helps!

Actually since it is a trunking system that you want to download, you can use the free Uniden download function written by Paul for 246T. The file structure is the same in both versions of the Uniden software (246 & 396).

How about the one that you said was free the 246t? Also. I just got the scanner and i put a few frequencies that were supplied from over here and have a question. If i put all the main frequencies for the latie system, How do i enter the talk groups in. I am new to all this scanner stuff.

The reader software can be downloaded from the Wiki Page on the 246; however, remember, ARC396 and BC396T_UASD are not the same programs and do not store data the same way.

Also which one on that wiki page do i download?
The one that says "RRDB_Reader".

Try the software before you start asking questions about how it works (ref your continual worry about talk groups.)

I might add, that since you already indicated you are interested in ARC396, these questions would appear to be academic; as such try and do a little research and looking up things on your own, you will learn a lot more a lot faster.

That link Where RRDB_READER Is, Does not work.
<sigh>
Download it from the 396T Yahoo group that you are a member of (files section).

Did you ignore the entire part of start looking for things and stop asking to be spoon-fed?

Since your simple question and add on questions have been answered, I am closing this thread before you drag it on to infinity.
