Is this scanner any good or is it too old.. Like i said in a previous thread i have just gotten a pro 433 for home,and want one to put in the car trying to figure out if i should go w/ the bct8 or another 433..

Like I mentioned before be more specific! For example, since this is an analog trunking only scanner, since no one knows where you are, no one can say whether this scanner will work in your area or not. If you have digital trunking in your area, it won't be very useful for that purpose. 73s Mike

For the difference in price, I'd get a BCT15. Much better feature set than the BCT8. In fact, I would call it the follow on product to the BCT8.

I have four base scanners, In my livingroom I have a pro-2055 and a BCT-15. In my bedroom I have a pro-2051 and a BCT-8. I live on the Ulster - Orange County line in New York State. The 55 and the 15 have alot more features Tex-Tags, Tones plus alot more. People are going to say I am nuts but I like the pro-2051 and the BCT-8 more the the other two. I been listening long enough to know who is talking by looking at the frequency or the ID's. I suppose if I lived near a big city the tags and tones would be useful but where I am its not that important to me.........Ray
