I have (2) cables which I believe to be related to Uniden scanners. They both have the Uniden scanner jack port connecter on one side and a male USB plug on the other. At first, I thought they were like the Uniden USB-1 cable, but they are not recognized via any of the USB drivers (PL-2303). They also have (2) black boxes inline, instead of one.

Note: I do have a Uniden USB-1 cable and it and the drivers work perfectly. No idea where I got these...

Anybody recognize???

That looks like a Camera/video cable. The type of connector is similar to the uniden radio jack connector. The two black boxes look to be Ferrite beads to reduce electrical interference.

Those are not Uniden scanner cables, they are "non-standard" mini USB cables. They will not be "recognized" by the PC because they are just USB-to-USB pass-through cables (there is no electronic circuitry in the cable to convert serial to USB). The two "black boxes" (as you referred to them) are just ferrite beads.

Although they are not very common, those connectors are used on a few other devices (digital cameras, mp3 players, etc). These other devices are what those cables were designed for. If you really wanted to, you could make those cables into usable USB-1 clone cables by cutting the cable in the middle and soldering a USB-RS232 adapter in-line.

Thanks for the responses....cables identified finally by the Wife, for an older digital camera she got rid of. She then thru the cables in my parts box, "for recycling", hence my confusion.
