>> ... the last couple of times I have been to the Charlotte Hamfest, there was a Uniden dealer there.
Hobby Radio Shop, out of Ohio, has a booth in the main area of the hamfest. They sell a few selected Uniden items, and usually have one of the newer Uniden scanners on a hamfest "special."
They also offer a discount for paying with cash $$.
Norm Schrein - aka Mr. Bearcat - is the owner, as well as the publisher of the National Communications Magazine and the Betty Bearcat directories. Some years, he has been present at the hamfest. Other times, he employs someone to work the booth for him.
>> Grove located in Brasstown...that is not that long of a drive from Charlotte
... if you're retired and it hasn't snowed in months ! I did one of those trips about 1989, when Bob Grove still operated the business from a building behind his home. Never again ... let UPS bring it to me. : )
In all fairness, I met Bob, his wife and some of the people working at Grove Enterprises. A very nice group of people. Some years, you'll find someone from Monitoring Times at the Charlotte hamfest, such as Rachel Baughn (the editor) and her husband.
