I just received my new HomePatrol, what a Big Dissapointment, $500 buck and it wont hear Squat. I put in my zipcode and nothing, it scans but hat been on for hours and no sounds whatever, and i sold a really good Pro2096 for this piece of junk.

Tell us what county you are in, and maybe we can get you going. Your zip code might be too restrictive. You can change the default radius around your zipcode to 30 miles. The other possibility is that the RR database is not complete or up-to-date for your particular area. Other than that, there should be no reason it will not get everything your 2096 got. Checking the antenna, see if you get the weather station(s) for your area.

get a little noise on one of the weather channels, i am in Lonoke Co, Ar, I put in 72086 for my zip. I have radius set for 25 mi have had it at max of 30.

If you just got the HP-1 you might have to do the Firmware Update and the most recent database installed before things work correctly. Also I wouldn't use the HomePatrol Sentinel software yet. Today many users are reporting that it's giving them errors and corrupting the database. Go to Advanced features on the radio and enter one of your busy frequencies and see if it’s picking it up. Again, it might need the firmware and database update. Let us know.

Does that mean you get the weather,but it has a little noise, or you just get a little noise and no weather audio? It should get the same as your 2096 did. If not, then there is something wrong with the antenna connection or the scanner is defective.

I just rechecked everything, the FirmWare and the Database are the Latest ver.

Sounds like you got a defective unit, but let's wait until either the Uniden Rep(UPMAN) ses this, or some others with HP-1 can comment.

On your HomePatrol, please press the following:

"Menu" then "Advanced Menu" then "Version Information"

Could you tell us what Firmware Version and Database Version are reported?

It's not a piece of junk just yet.... Let us support you first.

Ok, bfpdb, don't do anything for now. However, it appears you are about 2 months behind on an update, which will most likely fix your problem.

BUT... It appears the latest update has a problem which should be fixed shortly. Don't update your unit until you hear back from us on this thread.

Uniden Homepatrol database vanished

I'm using Sentinel and the database has apparently vanished as I tried to do an update. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Sentinel software program about a dozen times. There is no way that the master database can be downloaded to my Homepatrol until somebody fixes the bug in Sentinel. My $500 receiver is pretty much useless at this juncture. Send help.

While you are waiting, try "unfolding" a smaller paper clip, and gently insert(don't force but just touch it to the center connector on the radio. While holding it, see if the weather and aircraft reception improves. If id does, then you have a defective antenna. Look to see if the center pin on it is bent/broken.

Uniden is aware of the update problem - please be patient - it is the weekend and I know they are working on getting the update process fixed.

bfpdb, your problem is that you never updated your radio to the latest database version - it is at least 2 months out of date. Once Uniden gets the update process fixed all you need to do is update your radio using the Sentinel software.

You've got to be patient, otherwise you are going to miss out on a great radio.

Uniden will probably update the community shortly.

I have tried to update it, it say it has the Latest Ver. I did that before you told me to do nothing else.

Yes, but you need to "write to home patrol" to actually update the radio. All you did was update what is on your computer. Try starting sentinel now, and don't do anything except choose " write to home patrol". Again, at this point DO NOT check for updates just "write to home patrol"
