When playing back recorded .Wav files in the VLC Media Player the Artist and Album information is not listed in the playlist. The information is listed in Windows folder and Windows Media Player. All other .Wav and MP3 files show this information. Double, tripled checked settings. Playlist shows Title (e.g. 2015-01-10_16-20-38.wav;. Duration: time; URI: file location and ID:: number. No Artist, Album, Track number or Description. Weird. Anyone else have this issue?

Never tried HP-1 files in VLC. I like the Media Monkey application because it shows all 3 psnels of the HP-1 as you play back the recording.

It i am going try it with the HP-2 today. I have always used it with the HP-1. I got a 536 and for whatever reason...file layout or whatever changed ..won't play right in Media Monkey.

I have had to use the VLC player for those files. You probably will have the same issue with the 436. I don't know why the changes to the file header or file layout, but I preferred what they did with HP-1 (and hopefully HP-2as well)

I just loaded some recorded files from the 436, they are displayed as the HP-1 and are playing back good. Same with Trunk Discovery files. Though, in Trunk Discovery there is no Artist info, only Path which displays the TGID. Are you saving it to a local hard drive? I've not tried to import directly from the scanner. Initial set up of the program had Crossfade and Shuffle selected, which makes scanner audio rather awkward. A nice feature in this program is that it indexes the Artist over multiple folders. Bad thing is this is very labor intensive for the CPU. It took 12 + hours to search and index all my audio files. One feature I liked about VLC is the variable playback speed. Apparently, there is winamp plug in that can be used in Media Monkey, but the pitch makes it sound like chip monks. The indexes feature makes Media Monkey well worth it.

Sounds like you had some serious files. I will have to try looking at the 536 files again. Since having 2 of the other HP radios and a PSR-800 I usually run to one of those radios to catch an event.

When I do use the 536 what I have been doing is playing it back into a process that creares a single Mp3 file of all the transmissions and then save that file. Its also an easy way to burn files to disc.

I installed the other program becsuse I was having trouble with 536 files. Maybe I should look at what settings I'm using in Media Monkey. Might solve beyter that way.

Glad you like the program.

Tried both the hp-2 and the 536. HP-2 worked fine as I expected it would use the same file format as HP-1.

What surprised me was the BCDx36hp files working exactly the same. These are a different file format and previously would not play in Media Monkey correctly.

However... this is an upgraded version of media monkey and they must have enhanced it to handle the difference. Good deal.

This remains the best application to handle recorded uniden scanner files.
