$#@!
I started getting low voltage errors with a set-up I know works well.
Unfortunately, upon further investigation, I now know why.
The RH pin on the USB (ground) is smashed to the back and the jack itself broken.

The USB jack is behind shielding, making it a difficult repair, so off to Uniden and thus my question.
What is people's recent experience with Uniden's repair turn-around time?
Will I see my 100 back in March sometime?

When your scanner gets logged in at Uniden's repair facility, they always set the completion for repair a month out. Most repairs seem to take 2-3 weeks. But that can be longer if a part is not in stock, or if they have a backlog. As Doc's noted, with the holidays, and short weeks till after January 4th (the Monday after New Years), I suspect that the turnaround time will be closer to a month.

So call & ask for a ballpark date. However, the repair facility is on the Tarrant/Denton county line, and both counties (especially Tarrant) are seeing a surge of Covid cases, so they may be short handed right now.

Edit to add:
You might touch bases with jonweinke, to see if he could do that. He's doing some other mods and repairs, including for the cold solder joint issues.

Jon and I have been in touch. I've got engineering/tech background, so I have the skills, but the will (and the steady hand anymore).... So, I checked-in w/ Jon.

I had the same problem with a 436 and when I opened it up, I did a hard pass. The USB jack is behind some soldered in place shielding. Jon says the 100 is much worse, shield is soldered in 10 places and some are behind the display.

So, off to Uniden it goes.

My 996P2 was about a month. It did, however, come back with the scanner metal case all bent like someone tried forcing it on. I was pretty disappointed.

Did you send it back for a new case @ no cost to you?

No, I didn't. It was outside of warranty to begin with and how do you prove it? Like clearly the guy putting it back together didn't care enough to fix the problem right then and there so makes you think sending it back in is going to be any different?

I didn't have pictures of it before hand. It sits inside of a console so you can't see the damage. Still disappointing.

Yeah, I feel your pain. I have attempted to avoid shipping my 436 HP in for repair. I let a friend use my other radio for a while. Now, I have no choice since the radio took a nose dive and broke the SMA thread.

So, I will finally get that blasted internal clock issue resolved. I cringe thinking about the turnaround time due to the current state of affairs.

I just got my HP-2 back from Uniden a few days ago where it was being repaired under warranty.
Turnaround time was just over 5 weeks.
Uniden did provide a return shipping date when they received the scanner for repair and it was actually shipped back to me on the quoted date.

I'm now considering whether or not to send my SDS100 back to Uniden to replace its faulty scroll control knob.

When you send your radio in for repair, and you unlucky enough to have one radio, then you realize the "addiction strength" of said radio. I go into withdrawal symptoms, LOL.

I sent my SDS100 in for a solder joint repair. It left me the week after Veteran's Day and I received it back yesterday. I also consider Covid and Christmas/Holiday delays, but it was over 1 month for sure, 6 weeks total I suppose.
