So I had my dsd100 working just fine with a vhf/uhf HT antenna, I can hear things just fine. San Bernadino Phase 1 system. I take the sd card out and put it in the sds 200, I hear nothing, I am using the same antenna. any ideas on why the silence?

I'm sure more technical explanations will be forthcoming, but the first question I would ask is whether it worked ok after it failed to work in the SDS200 and when you put it back into the SDS100 ?

The same antenna? The 200 would require an antenna with an elbow. Is this what you’re using? Or an external antenna. And 100 is sma and 200 is bnc, so has to be some differences in antenna connection.

So the antenna is a bnc Diamond dual band. swivel. , the 100 does have a adapter.
when I put the 200 disk in the 100, it acted completely different, the settings we not quit the same, I will need reset these up

A reprint from gcgrotz;

“Cross-polarization can cost you dearly, especially at higher freqs. At 800 MHz it can cost you as much as 15-20db (-20db is 1/100 the signal strength) depending on what reflections you can pick up, also signals coming from the direction you are pointing (which would be the top of the antenna) will also be down by a bunch. You need to get that thing vertical!”

Most all of what we use scanners for will require a vertically mounted antenna, either on a handheld or base/mobile setup.

But I think you’ve covered that… if I am reading your post correctly, your antenna is being used vertically on both radios… if it isn’t, make both applications vertical and see what results you have.
