uniden software problem with laptop

When I start up the program on my laptop and I plug in the USB adapter
to the Uniden cable and I press connect to scanner, it gives me an
error message "comunication error! please check scanner remote settings". how do i fix this problem ?

PS i have already tried to update my iogear usb driver but i dont know if i succeeded.

May I assume that the Uniden Software is the UASD? If so you have to make sure UASD is configured to the right COM Port and connect speed. Also the Scanner should be turned on and connected to the computer before you start the program.

Look in your device manager and see if there is a little caution sign.

finally got it fixed

Thanks for the help guys. I finally got it working after reinstalling the driver.
