• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

When the 11 meter band is open I often hear a wider-band digital mode of short duration, usually above the US CB band. In the attachment one of these signals appears between 27.7 - 27.8mHz and the other beween 27.9 - 28.0mHz with white ribbon-like waterfalls. Occasionally they're seen in the upper part of the USA CB band also. Thanks for your help.

Here Where I live In New Bedford MA I have RF welders being used at a local factory so Ill get a Sweeping buzz on the 11 meter band.
RF welding can be for plastic's or thin Metals.
You will also see some Stationary pulses that are not sweeping - They can Be some Pulse radar for Propigation or Stuff across in Europe
in the war in the ukraine - The Low Frequency Anti aicraft radars the Russians use alot of spectrum jumping around on 25-30 mhz
The you just have the Wild West on 38 LSB sending RTTY Packet and Slow Scan TV Pictures because in Europe its Legal for some
Digital Modes where its not in the US pluse many Countries Like Russia or Brazil they have 80-120 More Channels of CB than the US Look it up.

Google RF Welding 27Mhz or Fish Hooks On SDR to Get More Information.

The digital mode JS8Call is popular in Europe. There are some in the US and Canada using it. It's primarily done on Channel 25, USB, but some just go anywhere. You can hear what it sounds like here: JS8 - Signal Identification Wiki

I've picked up a few EU and Mexican stations at my QTH. Below is a screen grab of PSKreporter showing all the stations that are active on JS8 as I type this message.

Note that for things like this on HF, and audio file (use upper sideband and only FM instead if it appears to be an FM signal) is much more helpful than a waterfall though having both is best. Some of us could even attempt to decode it if it were an audio file.

That's interesting, thank you. Well, these signals only appear when the band's open. Maybe it's welding DX :).

Just don’t think it’s rf welding it must be local seeing its a radio emission and will propigate just as good as a cb or ham radio signal.
I found the local hair salon had a hair removal unit for woman to have facial hair removed. It fires sweep right in the cb band when they us it. Used a portable sdr to home in on it the woman in the salon gave me the owners manual to read . Very interesting.
When they use it I get a sweeping carrier on sdr water Fall.
My galaxy Saturn has a tap for a sdr water Fall so I see all this noise across the band.
It’s actually quit interesting whats out there on cb and freehand.
