I just recentlly got the Win96 software and I was wondering how you can unlock the 700mhz band? Do you just type the frequency in? Or is there a certain process you have to go through? Also, can I unlock the 300mhz band so I can montior local Military Posts? Thanks!

It's not a matter of "unlocking". The radio (did not mention what yours was), probably does not support 300 MHz./700 MHz. bands, and thus, when you program it through the software or even the radio itself - it says error. The radio can only support certain frequency spectrums.

It can unlock those frequencies, but not trunk them, if that's what you are asking.

Check the Extended Frequencies box bottem center of Settings/Weather tab.

Yes

You cannot trunktrack either 764 or 385 MHz trunking systems but you can listen to them by scanning in convetional FM mode. You will need to L/Out the duty Control freq. You will also be able to somewhat pick up the 225-385 MHz military air band.

On the WIN 96 software main screen, there's a checkbox at the bottom that says, "Extended Frequencies". Check it, and it will allow the radio to receive expanded frequencies. I'm not sure of the exact limits, but the scanner will not trunk in those extended ranges, but you can monitor the frequencies conventionally.

Thanks guys, I was just wanting to know how I would be able to "unlock" those freq. I'm not really looking to Trunk any of them.. just wanting to know how to unlock them. And yes, i'm working with the Pro-96. But anyways, thanks again for the help!

My guess would be if he is using the Win96 program, he would prob. be using a Pro-96 or Pro-2096. Just a thought
