Hey all. I am in the Hudson Valley and have a PRO-106, BCT15 and a BC246T.

How have systems changed in the past year or two? I have not done any real frequency updates for well over a year. What is the general consensus about cleaning out and updating my databases on my scanners?

I would hate to have to do a complete overhaul, but the traffic I hear is not like it was in the past. I feel I am missing some key freqs. I have a mix of general frequencies and quite a lot from the RR database from back when I had a premium membership.

I use ARC software for all three radios and have the saved file for each so amending/changing/adding freqs is obviously not a big deal.

Thanks for any input or help.

Pete,

Your feeling that you are missing key frequencies is a valid one. You don't specify where you are in the Hudson Valley, but if you in in the coverage area for the Times Herlad Record and you haven't updated any of your listed scanners in over a year, you are missing a significant number of new channels / LCNs, esp. within the fire/rescue and the specialized mobile radio (SMR) services. If appropriate, browse the threads at East Coast Scanning Resources • View forum - Orange County to see some of what you've missed.

Thanks very much.
I am in northern Ulster County.

I did re-up my premium membership here and did a sort of house cleaning on my three radios. I added a lot and got rid of a few.
I will check that link you gave to see if there is anything I missed.
I appreciate the info.
Take care.
