I hope I am not setting myself up to get flamed... but I know this is not mainstream and Uniden's in the business to sell more scanners, but could the following be done and would Uniden entertain the idea as a product or a possible add on upgrade modification, etc?

With the popularity of streaming scanner audio, RR.COM's promotion of the hobby through online feeds, and the expense of needing multiple P25 capable scanners for a multitude of online streams at once these days...

i am currently able to stream two different streams from my 996 scanner but in a limited manner: I have one dedicated to FIRE where all the fire TGs are taged for REC OUT and I have another feed for FIRE and POLICE and all the audio comes out the SPKR jack. I would like to be able to me more selective.

While the 996 currently has a the ability to set a freq or tg and have that tg go to the REC OUT jack. Would it be possible to build in 8 different REC OUT jacks and give the cpu (software) and user interface some sort of functionality to have a choice of which of the 8 REC OUT jacks the tg or freq would go to ?

Sort of a semi-prfessional feeder scanner per se. (If you build it - they will come ;-)

I realize someone is going to chime in here and say that this will deminish the quality of all the feeds since traffic may get missed since there is not a dedicated scanner running it. But in my experience, most of the present day feeds online seem to have so many tgs in rotation that you miss things anyway even when monitoring one system.

My question is just, can it be done and would Uniden consider this in some fashon?

Holy crap that would be one expensive "add on" or modification. :D

I understand your wanting this capability but the ROI
would not make it worth the investment and time Uniden
would have to put in.
Add in it is not just a software modification but a hardware
modification as well and I don't see this happening.

There is already professional hardware and software that can do this, but it is not cheap.

If there is something like this out there already, please post the info here. I am looking for something that will segregate audio outputs from a single scanner. Please post some actual info, don't just suggest it already exists.

At a wholesale price, a few extra audio jacks doesnt cost much more than pennies each. And a hook in the underlying programming abilities of the scanner already exists.

To send predetermined channels to the REC out jack capability goes something like this currently "If REC OUT = Yes, send audio to REC OUT jack" >> so I don't know why it couldnt be more like "If REC OUT = 4, send audio to REC OUT jack #4."

Doesn't sound expensive to me, of course I know programming languages and hardware.
