USCG 5.696 and 8.893 no longer used?

Hi Gang,

Seems like it's been awhile since I've heard any traffic on 5695 or 8983? Have they swithched over to Cothen 100%?

I would keep an ear on 8983. I saw a post that it was tested just prior to the hurricane on the west coast last week. I think most of the stuff is COTHEN as you mentioned.

Are all transmissions encrypted on COTHEN? Had to look this up as it’s first time hearing this term.

No, but there is a lot of encrypted traffic on Cothen. Most likely CBP and Drug interdiction ops.

If they asked for Ops and position that was likely USCG aircraft.
