My wife likes looking at those recycle building supply houses to try and find some antique door handles, light fixtures and the like. While we where there I noticed a rolled up 75 foot section of coaxial cable for $5.00 and since I am thinking of doing an outdoor antenna for my PRO-106 I could not pass it up. Now here is the question. I have to run about 50 feet with about 15 feet outside in the elements. Would this be a good cable to use? If not for the price I could use it for something else or just toss it. I listen to mostly 800mhz on Colorado DTRS.

One the side of the cable it reads – Laser DVC 18awg RG-6 750hm 2250mhz.

Also this is a pretty used cable. You can tell it was installed in some kind of factory of something. No cuts or things like that, just dirty and some glue or something on it. Also no end connectors, just the cable.

Thanks for the help
Jason

If your using it for receive only, and it looks to be ok condition inside, that is the copper is bright and shiny not corroded as if exposed to water, i would go with it! RG-6 works great for receiving systems and scanners, many many many guys on here use it.

If the ends look bad cut off a inch or so until you get clean copper. Then put some ends on it. You can get compression fit BNC connectors for RG-6, they install just like the compression F connectors for cable tv use. So connectors arent an issue.
