• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,

i have two MTP850 Fug, which i want to use as modem transfering AT commands. Unfortunately i can use them only in the Direct Modem.

In the TETRA Terminals Product Information Manual is given:

1. Connect the data cable to the terminal’s data port.
2. Connect the other end of the data cable to the computer.
3. Power up the terminal
4. From the terminal’s menu, select Setup > Data Setup > Voice and Data (or Data) mode option

The problem is that i can't select Setup>Data Setup > Voice and Data while the device using the Direct Mode: an error message : Service is limited appears.

Does anyone have experince using the devices as modems in the Direct Mode?

Thanks

Roman

AT commands are normally used for controlling the TETRA terminal that is connected to the PC, i.e. to set up a data call, change the talkgroup or volume etc.

I am also not aware of any TETRA terminal in the market that can provide packet switched data in DMO and the Motorola MTP850 does not support it for sure.
When you read something about "Data" and DMO in the sales brochures it means SDS/Status messaging. For packet data you need to have the TETRA infrastructure to support it.

PS: DMO = Direct Mode Operation ("walkie-talkie mode"), not 'Direct Modem'!

Thanks for your reply.

My intention is to use SDS transfering short Messages, (which can be predefined status messages), from one Terminal to another one. Both Terminal should be connected to a PC, one sending the SDS Message and one receiving it. The received status message should be processed by a Java program (or something like that)

With the AT commands I want to instruct the sending terminal to send a Status Messge. I've read that with Sepura devices this is possible, and I'm pretty sure, that with the MTP850 FUG it is possible.

So does anyone tried this?
