using pro106 with unitrunker

Can one simply scan, find a control channel and run unitrunker or must it be programmed as a TSYS first.

For the GRE models - including your PRO-106;
You can enter the control channel in Tune mode or select a channel from a programmed TSYS. However, LTR decoding only works from programmed TSYS.

When i stop on a control channel unitrunker doesnt do anything so I assume i must program as TSYS first. Any ideas?
