I recently saw a thread posted that said you can use VLC media player to
Get Alfa tags to show on computer
When listening to broadcastify
I'm running Windows 10 and have
VLC in my computer however the dropbox on players in broadcastify do
Not show VLC player as an option ?
I just would like to see alpha tags when available. I don't care for winamp
As a some say works. So how do i get broadcastify to play and show alpha tags on VLC player ?

I think you're expecting VLC to be integrated into that browser dropdown, it won't be unless broadcastify makes server-side changes/integration.
  1. click your preferred feed
  2. change the dropdown to "winamp" and then click play.
  3. It will ask you to save an ".m3u" file on your computer.
  4. Save that file.
  5. Find the file, then right click and "Open with..." and pick VLC.
  6. VLC will open it.

Or click the Open button and select VLC. Saves a couple steps.

I just did those same steps in hopes of helping answer the original poster's question. VLC plays the stream but I do not see alpha tags displaying anywhere on the interface. Went through all of the settings in VLC and didn't see anything related to tags either. I made sure to select feeds that have alpha tags being sent

Do .mp3 streams carry metadata?

Correct. Winamp will show Alpha Tags (see picture), but VLC does not for the same feed when I try it. My iPhone scanner app also shows alpha tags.

I couldn't get tags to work in VLC either. I tried Apple Music, but it never finds any items to play in the M3U file.

I actually sent a bug report to VideoLAN in June, but never heard back... VLC used to work perfectly to stream metadata, and now it doesn't--perhaps an update will restore that functionality.

looking for player for pc with good tag support, apparently vlc (not working) bug might be related to broadcastify forcing https, ive tried the scannenlive demo but its not very good at showing them on time if at all, while android player is perfect
