USVI Police using trunking?

Does anyone have updated information on what system/frequencies the USVI PD is using? I read that they are now using an MPT type trunking system.

I also noticed that this system has no talkgroup information: Virgin Islands Public Safety Trunking System, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands - Scanner Frequencies

Has anyone confirmed this system?

USVI uses MPT-1327

I live in St. Croix. The USVI for some odd (but predictable, we don't do anything normal here) reason decided to procure an MPT-1327 system for their police radio.

I've been using Trunkview and a Uniden BC296T scanner to try and figure out the channel arrangements but haven't been successful. The good news is that if you search between 158.000 and 162.000 then lock out the data channels you will hear a ton of interesting stuff going on.

You are definitely going to need a Custom Band Plan.

Does the Network broadcast Vote Now Advice messages, or Announce Control Channel messages, as in attached image.

It's late here as well, and asking that question was a waste of time, as they only make it easier to determine the CC and SysID of other Sites, and those details you have already provided.

I don't suppose you have more than one scanner. If you did, you could have one scanning from say 158.500 to 161 MHz, while using the second one with TrunkView. When you get a Go To Voice Channel message, note what frequency the second scanner stops on, and that should be the GoTo channel. You would then add that Frequency and Channel Number into the Profile, and gradually build up the Custom Band Plan. When using a Custom Band Plan, you don't use a Base Frequency.

I actually do have 2 scanners and was trying this for a while before I ran out of time. I logged what I "thought" was the frequencies for the channels in question but I wasn't sure. I'll do some more digging. I do need to read up on profiles in Trunkview, I saw the custom band plan optoin but wasn't sure how to properly set it up and get it to follow that.

The frequencies shown in RED above, don't look "right".

I believe the US uses 15 kHz Channel Spacing in this segment of the Band, and the highlighted frequencies don't fit in with that spacing.

According to the FCC Database, it seems this frequency may belong to a Pryce Incorporated Trunked Radio Site on Flag Hill, at Charlotte Amali, although that is about 40 miles away.

They also have another Site on Benner Hill, at St Thomas, with the following frequencies:-

I am receiving signals from Charlotte Amalie as I'm on the north shore of St. Croix and can see the mountaintops from my deck. I was listening to a taxicab company pick people up in STT last night

I'm not surprised about the frequencies in red, my scanner was in search mode and this was just where I noted that it stopped but oftentimes I could go up a click or down a click and still receive the frequency so it was probably off a bit.

Hope to find a little time this weekend to start trying to put together the custom plan.
