• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I took an opportunity to sit by the State Prison today and scan in OPEN mode on the Point of the Mountain site since I can't recieve it from my house. I was there about shift change and this is a list of the active TG's from that time. Some have already been identified in the database, but most have not. The only 2 voice channels that were broadcasting were 866.3250 and 868.2500.

TG:
5568- Escorting construction contractors to the front gate
6912- Listed as "Internal" in the DB- Asked if anyone would be interested in an OT shift
7040- Refered to as Transportation 2 "Sharron are you on Trans 2?"
7200- Activity
7232- Activity
7264- Very active asking to Open and close various sections of the prison for head count
7296- Activity
7328- Refered to as "Central"
7360- Activity
7392- Activity
7424- Refered to an inmate sitting on a bench outside "Promontory"

Those were the most active ones some of the ones with "activity" were air breaks or I caught the tail ent of transmissions just enough to catch the TG ID. I did notice the whole time I was scanning this tower, NONE of the AP&P TG's showed up on this tower.

One thing to remember about monitoring the Prison is Point of the Mountain and Gunnison are hooked up to the same frequencies. Some of the TGs are not at the Point but rather Gunnison in central Utah. I have several TGs identified just working on straightening out which are at Gunnison and which are at the Point of the Mountain. AP&P (6560) TG does show up on the Point of the Mountain but the Correctional Centers like Orange Street show up on site 3 for Salt Lake County. As a side note I will be entering the academy to become a Correctional Officer at the end of this month for the Prison at the Point of the Mountain. Have been monitoring this site for several months and hopefully will be able to collect more information.

TG - Point of the Mountain
6912 - Admin / Scheduling (Ask to cover positions and do watch checks every half hour)
7200 - Oquirrhs
7232 - Wasatch/Infirmary (General Pop and Hospital)
7264 - Unita 3 / 5 (Maximum - Orientation / Receiving)
7296 - Unita 1 / 2 / 4 (Maximum - Death Row / Gangs etc.)
7328 - Olympus (Mental Unit)
7360 - Timp / Star (Woman Units)
7392 - Lone Peak
7424 - Promontory

Thanks for the info. I posted for this a while back and really did not get any hits. Congrats on getting the job out at the Prison, maybe I will see you out there from time to time, I deliver fuel to the Motor Pool around the back and fill the generators in Max security and Death row. If you are pretty positive on these TG's I will submit them. Again, thanks for your help and CONGRATS!!!

Thanks LGLHOOK and hopefully we will get to see each other out there! I am 100% positive of these TG's...I know because my Dad works as an officer inside the prison and when Admin does watch checks they name the unit (Unitas or Promontory etc).

As LGLHOOK said, congratulations, tbogs, and a word of warning from an ex-LEO and which, no doubt, your father has already given you, too: You are going to be brushing shoulders with the scum of humanity on a daily basis. It will be very easy to become cynical and uncaring in that daily environment of verbal and sometimes physical abuse. Don't take the job home with you. Your family does not deserve it. I have a relative who works at the Gunnison facility and has made it to Sgt. I know from talking to him and from my own personal experience how hard it can be to sort out your personal life from your professional life.

Beyond that, as I said, congratulations. We need more like you!
