UTM = Universal Trans Mercator

It's what they use for map co-ordinates.

Example...

4330 Dufferin Street which is Toronto EMS/Fire Headquarters.

Map Page 9461, UTM 6234846

So the medic would look on page 9461, look for the North/South 623 and East/West 4846, it'd point them into the right place.

They also call them "Geocodes"

UTM has two very different meanings in MOH.
The first, and more widely used, is the one provided by excalibur.
The second is Upper Tier Municipality (County, Region, District, single tier city).

Ahhh.... I've always wondered about the Geocode bit. Always figured it was some sort of GPS/Location reference. Thanks for the info.
