VAIL - A 32-year-old backcountry skier died Tuesday in an area off of Vail Pass.
Summit County Rescue says two backcountry skiers were together in the Shrine Bowl area when they got separated.
Later, one of them found the other, a 32-year-old man, unconscious, not breathing and facedown in the snow, according to authorities.
When rescuers arrived they found one of the skiers doing CPR on his friend.
Summit County Rescue says there was nothing suspicious about the incident and the death appears to be from natural causes.
An autopsy is planned for later this week.
Authorities are not releasing the name of the man until his next of kin are notified.
