Joe, yes the dispatch tones are for VEMS and go over the Valley MED 10 tower.

They use a Zetron tone encoder, it can make many noises after the tones.
The console is an old Motorola Centracom II but they use a very old 3rd party matrix for patching insted of the easy way and using the console.

Though the "matrix" switching computer is old, it is a great set up. I can use any MED patch channel for an ambulance to communicate to any hospital in our region. So say a crew in Meriden needs to talk to a doctor at Yale for a trauma alert from the scene. I can hook the Yale hospital radio to the MED 3 tower and they can talk from the scene.

I must stop posting when I am half awake!!! Sorry Manny!

PS, I'm usually on the 505 machine, 61 or the GBARC repeaters up here (K1JJN).

It's ok Izzy, Joe is one of my best friends, so you picked a good guy! LOL...I will listen for you on the repeaters. I believe you mean the N1KGM repeater right? Anyway, I have put Ham radio aside indefinitely! Monetary reasons among other things.

This option comes standard on the Centracom II you can patch any module to any module.
If you have a module for a tower in Alaska you can patch it to Yale
We had a phone module so any phone could be patched to any module and a scanner module we could program the scanner to whatever then patch it to a channel, the guys in the field loved it.
We also had a TV module for the TV audio to come over a speaker, that was always fun to patch to a tac channel LOL

if you have the 396XT just program the 462.975 in one of your tone out slots and leave tone A & B as 0.0. When the tone is hit it will decode it for you.

If you set it for fire tone only, wouldn't you miss the rest of the call?
