Hello,

I have been seeing a lot about the new VCOMM interagency frequencies. I was wondering if these new frequencies are getting a lot of activity, or are agencies still using regional or local operations channels?

Vermont is still in the process of spending a lot of money to pay for EVERY authorized (department owned) Public Safety radio in the state to be programmed. Last I was aware they still had a lot of applications that are pending with the FCC. I do not believe there has been any activity yet, or that any of the frequencies are up and running at any of the PSAP's.

VHF Channels -

V-CALL - 155.7525 (156.7)
V-TAC 1 - 151.1375 (156.7)
V-TAC 2 - 154.4525 (156.7)
V-TAC 3 - 158.7375 (156.7)
V-TAC 4 - 159.4725 (156.7)

UHF Channels -

U-CALL - 453.2125 (156.7)
U-TAC 1 - 453.4625 (156.7)
U-TAC 2 - 453.7125 (156.7)
U-TAC 3 - 453.8625 (156.7)

The UHF channels have the ability to be repeated, whereas the VHF don't (I think). Also, they all use the national 156.7 Hz. CTCSS tone for inter-agency frequencies. My old department (Alburgh) just had them added to their radios, but they really don't use them. It's a just-in-case they need them, they have them.

We are just getting some new radios with them. I believe they are moto 1250's and will have a buttload of interagency frequencies and anything we have ever wanted or needed. We have 3 on the way and eventually i think our whole fleet will be updated. I am on Putney, VT fire/rescue. I am also on Shelburne and I think the new radio system should have the channels.
