So its that time of year again. During our recent winter weather I was unable to hear anything on the VDOT frequency listed for PWC in the database. I dont think its an antenna problem because I can monitor other VDOT channels such as STC and the Fredricksburg area just fine. Anyone have any success monitoring VDOT operations in Prince William or is it possible that they are using NEXTELS?

Sam: can you hear the repeater on 47.34 (I think)? I hear it in C'ville some times, and in the mobile when I'm north of town. I think it is up your way around Manassas.

Yes I do hear 47.34 LOUD and clear. I believe that is the Culpeper area or somewhere south of here. Thats why it is so confusing for me. If other residencies are chatting on the radio that much during snow events why are they not in NoVa? Makes me wonder whether Im just listening to the wrong channel or if they are using nextels or something.

Maybe they all stay home when it snows? ;)

I sure as heck wouldn't want to be out on those NoVA roads in a snow event!
