I noticed Sunday night with so much activity the use of channels with designations in the 30s, specifically 34, 37, & 38 with 38 referred to as “Torrey” (a repeater site near Simi Valley). In each case the radio traffic was heard on 154.145 which is the repeater output for CH 12 & CH 14.

Per RadioReference:
154.415 155.730 KMB552 RM 100.0 PL VNC ADM 12 Admin 12 (Multi-site)
154.415 155.730 RM 100.0 PL VNC CMD 14 Command 14 - Oxnard Plains

As can be seen, both channels have the same input and output frequency and PL tone. Both have been verified by dispatch as being a CMD channel. Both channels have been used as overflow command channels in case of an extraordinary number of major incidents such as Sunday’s rain.

It appears to me that CH 12, multi-site, has been broken into a separate channel for each site with each site being 154,415 PL 100.0 out /155.1730 its own PL in.

RR needs an authoritative source to provide info to update the Db with the new 30s channel numbers and any resultant changes to the existing Db.

Does anyone have any updates on the new Ventura Co trunked system? The last I heard, it was still some time before it goes live.

My inquiry has absolutely nothing to do with the future TRS.
It doesn't. I'm sorry if you thought that I was hijacking the thread, but I thought as long as we were discussing the Ventura Co FD, I'd ask if anyone had any updates on the TRS.

I received the following in response to my inquire as above to the VCFD PIO.

“Your assumption is correct, Channel 12 in the past was a single repeated channel that operated via MPL (multiple Private Line) at 13 different sites. In 2023 VCFD reprogrammed our radios each with their own site specific assigned PL creating a specific channel for each corresponding site. All sites transmit out @ 154.4150mhz 100.0 tone, therefore by monitoring this frequency/tone you will hear traffic from any/all sites when the channel is in use. If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to ask.”

I decided to push my luck & have asked for the site names and channel numbers.

I screwed up in translating from VNC the table. 41 should be VNC TAC as should be 43.

The TAC channels are repeats of these channels from Zone 1, the primary operational zone. It appears to be a matter of convenience. If units were operating on CMD 33 and wanted to go to a TAC channel, it is easier to switch to say 41 than to Zone 1 TAC 16, especially if you were an incident commander having to switch continually.

Thanks for posting the attachment. I see now that your table above omitted the channel name of "Command 12" and was only listing the CHANNEL NUMBER 33, 34, 35 etc but showing it as "CMD 33" - should be "CMD 12" / Ch 33 in their radio etc.
