Hi,

Found out from the Navy that VFA-37 would be the one doing the flyover at this weekends Darlington race.

I have looked around alot of websites, and can't find an air-to-air frequency. Does anyone have any A2A frequencies for VFA-37 Ragin' Bulls?

Also, has anyone else monitored NASCAR flyovers? I plan to be monitoring the TRACON frequency for the area on VHF. Is there any coordination frequencies that anyone is aware of?

Thanks!

I listened in at the Atlanta races, they were up on the tower frequency and were notified of when to make there turn and how long until over center field. Usually at the Atlanta races, we just get something like a C-130 or BUFF.

Ok, sounds good. I'll do some more research and then pick a frequency. Looks like it will be Florence Departure on 118.6, or Jacksonville Center on 133.45. Florence TRACON will be open at the time of the flyover, so that'll be it.

We are getting some F/A-18F's from the VFA-37 Ragin' Bulls!

I just can't find a dang A2A for the Ragin Bulls though!!! Anyone with any info on the Bulls, please let me know a A2A :)

Caleb,

Since they're be maneuvering VFR to set up for the flyover, they should be in communication with TRACON. I would also listen to local tower freqs (some pilots make advisory calls).

You may want to try 236.000, 251.900, and 282.800. They are programmed on almost all survival radios, which are often used by the ground spotters.

Jared- I have never heard any smaller TRACONs use the UHF- but I was scanning them anyway. They DID use 341.7 (Florence APP NE) for coordination with TRACON, and with the ground spotter.

They let them know inbound, and the spotter advised time until flyby, and played the last fifteen seconds of the national anthem as they approached the field- it was GREAT!

I didn't catch an A2A with them though, after having all of theirs in. Although, I was using the FT-60r antenna and missed a few transmissions that may have been the "hook" calls.

He called out of 3,000 to FLO, climbed to 8,000, and the scanner was switched to MRN and 88 :)
