Despite exhuastive research (unless I've overlooked something), I have yet to be able to successfully track the VHF system used by Shaw. Does anyone else who may be monitoring this have any input?

Im out there on Fridays. If you'll give me the area they are on I will see what I can get for you and have it back fri evening.
Ive got all the common freqs for them but not the trunked system. Whichever system it is I can probably track it with either unitruncker (kinda doubt its 3600 though) or pro96comm, then we can have an idea of whats going on. I thought I read a post about someone here having monitored shaw in the past but like you cant seem to find the info. Ive got Jackson,Gordon,CAFB, and Bragg (donated by another member here, and I still owe him a file but cant remember who it was)
The only other one I would like to have would be Morris Field national Gaurd base in Charlotte and Ft Rucker,AL but that will come in time

163.415, 163.410 cc. Pro-96 reads "96:----- 80%" (give or take) 80% is about the best I can get. As I stated, I have never been able to trunk track this system, although I can pull in voice freqs. rather well.

Ill check it friday when I get there. Ill be there in the early am and let you know what I get.
I still havent found the post I saw here awhile back about shaw being monitored and that it was a easy system to listen to. I guess we will see friday though.

The free and outstanding Pro96Com will easily identify the required table data if you are decoding at 80%.

Ok, sorry for the delay, but I finally have the pro96comm data files for Shaw. I'll forward them to whoever is willing to take a little time to walk me through the setup for a pro-96. All I need is just simple how to on figuring the offset and bandplan, other than that I should have the rest figured out.

S,

Pro96Com should have a Towerxxxx.txt file.
You can attach it here for review or copy and paste data from the Tables similar to these.

Base is 136.0000
Offset is 41952
Step is 12.5Khz

BTW, your 13 lines of Identifiers overwhelmed me so I sought help from Mike Vander Veer on his Pro96Com Yahoo group. Only Identifier 12 is used.

Ill get this into p6 format and repost.
Thanks for the help.

Phil

PS A few bases are a little rough due to time limitations while near these bases. Any help with tg id's would be appreciated.

Instead of the offset being 41952, wouldnt it be 49152? not second guessing here but by the way I added it up thats what it came to. Maybe I did the math wrong. Correct me if I am in error.

I hate that when that happens. BTW The cafb file I owe you is in the one I just attached. Not much to listen to though.

I already grabbed it, thanks. I dressed it up with what I have for Ft Gordon and Ft Jackson in bank 8 & 9. Can't say when I'll get back to Charleston or Augusta again.

Shadow357 & fmon:
Thank you for your help, I wish I could have contributed more, but judging from the amount of research & technical skill invested in this project it would have taken me months (or years) to figure this one out. I guess I'm still a newb in this respect...I've been monitoring Ft. J for a while- I can probably help out in the talkgroup dept. I'll try to put something together...I'd be willing to bet I have most Milair freqs. used by Shaw & McEntire also if you're interested...

Gosh, I'm tickled to help and sure Phil is also. If it wasn't for Mike's Pro96Com many of us would be up the creek.

Regarding Jackson,...do you have towers 106 and 107 in use?
Also, these are the few TG's I have.
Code:
Mil Police 00404
F/EMS Disp 00415
Fireground 1 00416
Range Contro 00491
Maintenance 00536

More about Shaw

Here's the text of a message from Mac McCormick on the scansc Yahoo! group:

During a road trip yesterday, I assisted in identifying the system below
as the Shaw AFB TRS. It is a VHF 9600 baud P25 system. While I never
was in the immediate area of Shaw AFB, I was able to monitor this system
from approximately the 75 mile marker on I-95 in South Carolina to the
Exit 164/Florence, SC area with average band conditions. Talkgroup info
is obviously still sketchy, it's hard to determine much on a military
radio system while passing by on a Saturday...

Settings/Frequencies:
-----------------------------
Base Freq: 162.0000 Step: 12.5 Offset: 380

163.4625 Control Channel (9600 baud)
165.0125 Digital Voice
165.1875 Digital Voice
165.2250 Digital Voice
165.4125 Digital Voice
166.0000 Digital Voice
166.2250 Digital Voice

Talkgroups
----------------
19 Fire?
-FIRE DEPARTMENT wkg RADIO MAINTENANCE
20 unknown
-ref to personnel not in uniform going to "the 79th side"
21 unknown
25 Police?
-SHAW wkg DELTA #, references to "the sub-station" (these just
"sounded" like law enforcement
28 Squadron talkgroup?
-unid passing aircraft maintenance codes, reference to sending someone
to "the 79th side" (probably related to similar traffic on TG 20)
34 Tower/Ground Control?
-BARRIER MAINTENANCE wkg SHAW TOWER
-unid ref switching runways
42 POL?
-unid ref "amount needed" for aircraft 907

If someone can get a System ID for this system, I'll start a database entry for it.

Hey, nice work!

I assume these are data files from Pro96Com? I guess I need to bone up on their formats. I'll work on a database entry for it.

Thanks

Brian
