Hi, advise needed! I have an Alinco DR-235, a Yaesu FT-7900R, I want to hook them up to a Comet CX-3333 Triband antenna. Will I need an antenna tuner, and, how would you set this configuration up?

Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

There is no easy way I know of to combine them all onto one antenna so you have to start with a triplexer that splits out the separate 2m, 220 and 440 bands. Run the 220 radio direct off the 220 tap. Then run the 2m and 440 taps into a 2m/440 diplexer and connect the common port to the 2m/440 radio. There will be a tiny bit of loss doing this but it will go unnoticed and everything will play together nice.

Well it’s only two radios, the Yaesu is duel band 2 meter and 440. The Alinco is 220.

Thanks for quick response.

Since it's unlikely you'd be transmitting with both at the same time, a simple two-position coax switch might be what you are looking for. There will be some insertion loss with the switch but it's negligible.

Unfortunately, that will also affect the receive, which is likely undesirable.

A triplexer is the only way but is there actually one that has one146/446 connection and then a 220? Probably have to use a triplexer plus a duplexer to combine 146 and 446. Also triplexers and duplexers cost as much or more than a decent antenna. I would suggest separate antennas for each radio. You can still use the triband antenna on the dual band radio and get an antenna for 220.

Check out this page. It talks about exactly what you are asking about ... connecting a dual-band and a 220 radio to a CX-333. As prcguy stated, you need a triplexer *and* a diplexer.
