Visiting Iowa

I will be visitng the Orange City, Iowa area around July this year for my wife's family re-union. What are the best fequencies to monitor for DPS for that area. I will be driving from the West Coast via I-80 then enter Iowa via Sioux City using US-75 and then north on SR-60 to Orange City.

I've looked at the RadioReference DB for Iowa and I do see the listings for DPS. I'm assuming this is the current system and it is conventional. I also read about the RACON EDACS system but not sure that is applicable for DPS. Your feedback is appreciated.

The Iowa State Patrol dispatch/ops is all VHF conventional.

The charts makes it look like a simplex operation, its not. All sites are repeated and you only need to monitor the "Base TX", that is the repeater output.

Very little RACOM EDACS in northwest Iowa. Not worth programming any of it into a scanner in that area
