I was wondering does anybody have the talkgroup id # for the waco area?
Hi bobster

Need a little more specifics as to what you are looking for.

Right now, Waco is on this trunked system. However, other comments, including some in this thread, indicate that Waco, as well as McLennan County, eventually will move to this P25 (digital) system.

General information for the various jurisdictions in McLennan County can be found here.

If you'll be more specific as to what agency (or agencies) you're interested in, as well which scanner you're using, I'm sure somebody can help point you in the right direction.

For now, Waco PD is on the Waco/McLennan County system. Looks like one of their talkgroups is tagged as encrypted, and one as digital, with occasional encryption. But most all of the talkgroup ID's, for now, are analog, so you'd be able to hear them with our Pro-164. I don't own that scanner, but the 'easier to read' manual online may help, if you need any more information on setting the system up. I know there's several members from the Waco vicinity that post fairly often. By "zoned", if you mean patrol district zones or unit assignments, one of them may be able to shed more light on that.

As I noted initially, there's comments on the McLennan County database page that eventually, Waco may move to the TxWarn P25 system, which is digital. If and when that happens, you would not be able to monitor them with your Pro-164.

I've been told by a reliable source that Waco, McLennan county, Beverly Hills, and Baylor University indeed are moving to TxWARN P25. They already have TGs on the system waiting to be used. An exact time frame is not known, but they definitely will be moving to the system sometime in the near future.
