How long does it take for you to receive the paper copy your ham license? I took the technician exam on July 15th and passed and on July 19th I got my callsign. Then that night I submitted the application for a vanity callsign.

Not a problem!

You will get one for your assigned one, and one for your vanity about a month or so later. The vanity takes either 28 days or a month to get assigned.

The FCC tends to process vanity call signs in blocks, two or three times a month.

From recent experience on getting a vanity call, it takes roughly three weeks, from when the application is processed. There are three levels, 1) is the modification received (getting the application), 2) payment received/confirmed, 3) redlight review pending. They wait three weeks, from the last one to make sure no other applications come in requesting that call. A previous call sign is not available until two years, and one day after it expires. I applied for my vanity on 6/6, and got it on 6/24 (right before Field Day) -- 18 days. But they do issue them in blocks. Check out AE7Q's Amateur Radio Tools, it can tell you if you are projected to get your call, and when.

You passed your test on the 7/15 and you got your license by 7/23, all I can sy is "you lucky dog".

I passed my tests on 7/14... today is 8/09 and I am still waiting for the paper license from FCC.

I emailed them and received back a form email explaining they would answer later, that was about a week ago. And of course, there has not been any answer yet (I am guessing there never will be). I will wait until a month has passed before I call and ask.

Regardless, so far, I am having a lot of fun and learning a lot (with lots more to learn). I hope you are too.

Just got my paper license today. Didn't expect it to be that fast. Maybe yours got lost in the mail?
