PDW Was working, isn't now

Hi,

I installed PDW awhile back and it worked great, was decoding everything, now it doesn't want to decode anything.
It doesn't look like it is even getting an audio signal. I have tried changing the settings of the virtual cable, still nothing.

I have even gone back to look at Youtube videos and start from scratch to no avail. This has to be user error on my part but what am I doing wrong?

What are you feeding it with? Make sure you give it plenty of audio. With SDR# feeding via VBCable into PDW 3.2b01, I need to set SDR#'s audio slider >= 51 dB.

Blame Windows...everyone likes to do that

More seriously....if you are using Windows 10 there was a security update (though a long time ago now) which requires you explicitly grant permission for 'microphone' use in Apps.
Settings > Privacy > (App Permissions) Microphone and check that the setting is to Allow (default is not allow)

It's caught lots of people out with 'decoder' type software.

In my case, many of the radio-related apps (PDW, LTR-Analyzer, various audio tools, DSD+, Unitrunker, EchoLink, but not SDRTrunk or SDR#) appear in the "Allow desktop apps to access your microphone list", so that single option enables them all. Don't remember how they got there.

i have bang my head too about this pdw i have tryed my radio scanner with this it as the disclamer tap running from this to a audio jack and still nothing plus i have tryed sdrsharp ...and still nothing can anyone help would be great peter

A yagi or an antenna tuned for the frequency, signal quality is most important, then finding the sweet spot for gain and volume. It was a process when I played around with Pagers, tried allot of antennas,yagi worked great, so did a diy collinear coaxial antenna(which I ended up leaving mounted & was used in this video)

if you have everything set up correctly, from the scanner to the sound card and computer, the signal meter in pdw will be bouncing around like crazy. fine tune the volume controls on the computers sound card until it starts to copy the signal, it may take a while, be patient.
