Waterbury pd/fd on sds100

I have reprogrammed my sds100 a few times trying to receive waterbury pd/fd. I tried sentinel and using rr database. I still can't receive anything. I used to a month or so ago on both my 396 and hp2 but now nothing. They are only about 15 miles away from me. Anybody else have issues?

Are you monitoring the system linked below? Are you getting any bars of signal from the control channel at all? If so the first step I would take it to make sure all applicable service types (reference "tag" column) are turned on otherwise the scanner will omit those talkgroups

I also did the “automatic” RR download with no problems… last time I heard both PD & FD was about two weeks ago when I was in the area-no problems. I run the SDS200.

If you attach your 396, HP2, and SDS100 files, I will check them for problems. I have both ARC396 and FreeSCAN for your 396. Check the squelch level on your scanners. For the SDS100 it should be 2.

You're 15 miles outside of Waterbury? You don't mention which town. My last time down around there, the coverage is pretty well city centric and you don't get it much further out. The system is optimized for in city coverage and if you're in, say, Meriden (On the west side of Hanging Hills) it comes in choppy.

So you're saying you've lost reception on 3 scanners now? How strong was the signal beforehand?

I know exactly what has happened. The control channel frequency recently changed to 852.1125 which is not listed as control channel capable in the Radio Reference database. To be safe, enter all of the frequencies into the scanners. The site shows 6 control channel capable frequencies. There should be only a maximum of 4, one primary and up to 3 alternates. This could possibly be a Harris system in which any frequency can be used for the control channel.

I can confirm the system is coming in OK on my SDS100. Just heard PD/FD/Public Works. The signal has always been a little weak for me here in Newtown. Need to be in a specific area of the house to receive. You can also try using the 'Analyze' feature and walkaround your area to see if it picks up the system information. It will also show signal strength.

Working fine down my way. Try entering in 852.1125 NAC 151 (enter as a conventional channel) and see if you can hear the control channel

yes sorry I forgot the G5 shows the NAC in decimal form. So yes, 097 is correct for the SDS

Thanks! The SDS100 and SDS200 require the Site NAC in Hex which is 097.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm in oxford and always received wtby with no prob. I am looking in configuration and see I have nac # 100, 200, 300. I will change and see if it works. Control channels include 852.1125

It seems strange that all 3 scanners stopped working at once. There was another member that found the scanners started working again when 852.1125 was added. This was a recent change. To be safe, make sure all 10 of the frequencies are in the site.

852.1125 is now in the DB as a control channel capable frequency. 851.3375 is as well (which is one from my records). If this is a Harris P25 system, I'll just flag the remainder, as any can be on a Harris system.

Thank you! I suspect that it may be a Harris system also. I found it unusual that there were 6 control channel capable frequencies listed in the RR database when there should be a primary and a maximum of 3 alternates unless it is a Harris system.

If I’m not mistaken, I think Waterberry at one time had Johnson and then I think they moved over to Harris I don’t remember
