SDS100/SDS200: Waterfall Wishlist

I guess you could say I am a "proponent" of the new waterfall feature. I had a few thoughts on some additions that might enhance its capability in future firmware updates.

1. I'd like to be able to see CTCSS, DCS, NAC info when a signal is tuned. Maybe RAN and CC also if possible. I wonder if there is a spot on the screen where that could be added in. Probably easier on the SDS200 than the SDS100, if possible at all. I'd surely take anything along those lines over the date and time.

2. While I fully anticipate there will be a software solution to make the waterfall easier to operate, I wonder if it would be possible to add an external VFO knob to one of the USB inputs of the 200. That would take the strain off of the function knob.

If you're coming here to crap on the waterfall feature, please don't. I thought it might be interesting to get thoughts on what might make it better going forward. I understand that such wishes may be beyond the capability of the scanner or the interest of the manufacturer.

The scroll knob in Pro Scan already works as VFO, also the arrows if knob is highlighted.

I'm aware of that...not everyone owns ProScan. They should...but not everyone does.

A USB remote VFO/keypad would be an nice option.

Just a simple mouse support to read the scroll wheel and a button to toggle between scroll and volume and the other for hold/scan would help. There are small mini mouses that could be used. And then using the scanner in a vehicle might be easier as well, perhaps with a home built controller using the mouse electronics and a real rotating knob and easy to push switches.

I wonder if uniden will make pc software eventually that can access the sdr though that usb port on the back of the sds 200

The sales of the paid waterfall upgrade will determine that! If the paid waterfall upgrade sells well, we can expect that to come out eventually. If they aren't working on it already.
