Does anyone else notice a weird whining sound on the Wayne County system's transmissions?

Any word on how long until Wayne County makes the switch to digital?

I was listening to Wayne county earlier tonight. It almost sounds like some of the transmitters are out of phase with each other...

Let's face it, the county don't have any money.
And the current TRS is working.
Maybe the County Commission has the attitude, If it's not broke, don't fix it.

I just noticed that the old Wayne County TRS is offline right now. Moreover, I have observed that Wayne County's newer system is very, very weak at my home QTH. Normally, they are S-6 to S-9, but tonight, even with tropospheric ducting, the best I am receiving the Wayne County TRS is at S-3. These two facts tell me that something is underway, and we should be looking out for more changes in the near future.

Ron,

I pick up the Wayne County TRS clear as day all day and night from my location 60-80 miles north of there.

Then again I'm at a higher elevation then others are.

The data channel on "4718" keeps changing every few minutes. Currently, they are on 853.5125 MHz, but very, very weak at home QTH. Usually, they are much stronger and crystal clear for the most part.

Within the last 30 minutes the control channel has changed about 5 times. Moreover on another note....852.2375 is brodcasting a 3600 baud control channel with a system ID of CA28.

Unable to locate this system ID anywhere and I see that Wayne County is licensed to use it, and 2 departments near Cleveland too.

Interesting things occuring in Wayne County tonight.......those that can hear the system please monitor it and post your hearings here....

For the last few days I haven't been able to receive this system at all in Livonia with the stock Uniden antenna. Now it's loud and clear, control channel is 856.0125.

Hmmm, being that the primary antenna is right in Livonia...that IS odd...

I picked up the CA28 system on 854.3125 tonight down here in Toledo, and Trunker indicated that 853.2375 is an alternate control channel. Also the CA28 is coming in better than the 4718 system.

A friend of mine who lives in Plymouth, went down to Metro Airport to pick his sister up. The 4718 system was loud and clear on his Uniden scanner. After he dropped his sister off at his mother's house, he went over to the Hines Park site, and was not able to hear anything from that site. Therefore, that site must have been down either for maintenance or new equipment installation.

I suspect that the CA28 site is in downtown Detroit. Its only coming in at 1-2 S-units. However, the 4718 TRS is coming in at 5-7 S-units, which is much better than it was last night. The Hines Park site must be back online again.

I don't think it's downtown... I can barely pick it up from home, in the SE corner of Oakland County.

Right now, the CA28 system is very scratchy on 853.2375 MHz. The other system 4718 is relatively loud and clear at S-6 at my QTH. Apparently, the Hines Park site was offline, but is back in service, which would explain the increase in signal strength.

I wonder where CA28 is located at? I just got off the phone with David, who lives in Plymouth, and he has the system at half scale at his location. Likewise, before that I received a call from Eric, who works in Plymouth, and he is receiving the system very well with an outdoor antenna. I am wondering if its transmitting from the south part of the county?

Currently, the data channel for "CA28" is on 852.2375 MHz. I wonder where this site is located at? Somehow, I think its either at Metro Airport, or in the Downriver area. Currently, the reports coming in, do not support a downtown Detroit site.
