Pardon my newbie-ness with all of my questions - but:

What causes dropouts during communications reception? While listening to my 246T, it seems that most of the communications I'm receiving are dropping out briefly in the midst of the person talking. This seems to happen with very clear reception as well as poor. And it happens even with dispatch calls - like right in the middle of the dispatch. The dropouts are clean, only last for about a second, and have no static prior to or during. I'm listening with just the rubber ducky antenna, but the source is very close.

What causes this and can I fix it?

You either have a priority set, the weather alert on or close call running. Make sure those are all off and it will solve your problem.

Thanks, it seems it was the Weather Alert. Bummer, I kind of liked that feature. It went off a few times last evening.
