What does "FMN' stand for?

Hello gents. Just wanted to know what "FMN" signified in some mode listings in the database. Would
appreciate any info.

FM Narrow / narrowband FM. Typically, FM would be 20 khz or thereabout, and NFM would be 11.25 khz or less. If your scanner doesn't do narrowband FM, it's not a big deal. But if your scanner does have an NFM mode, you should use it on those frequencies that are listed as NFM.

That's in a nutshell. Someone with more knowledge of the whole requirements of agencies switching to narrowband will likely chime in with better info.

FMN=Frequency Modulation- Narrow (FM Narrow)

Read an excerpt from the WIKI: NFM - Narrowband FM (called FM on most scanners) -- is used on most current analog public safety communications and the total deviation is generally limited to 30 KHz down to about 12 KHz
