Is there a website, perhaps part of RR or Wikipedia, that gives a rundown of all the radio frequency bands and for what transmission types they are used. For example, I a curious about was is the primary use for the bands 30 - 54 MHz, aside from remote control toys and CB radio, and the usage for the bank 1240 - 1300 MHz. I have scanned these two bands and nothing but static and carrier tones came up.

From our Spectrum Wiki page: click the link at the bottom for the U.S. Frequency Allocation Chart.

This is a big chart, and won't give you detail like "R/C cars" and "garage door openers". But it's a start for general categories, like land mobile radios, broadcasting, amateur radio, and so on.
