I've been hearing this audio at the same location for more than a year now. I don't remember If I've heard it every time, but certainly most of the times. Since radios are involved, and I've recently found out that there is a Florida Radio Discussion Forum here, I thought that maybe somebody knows what the heck this is all about.
I'll start with the location. Approximate GPS coordinates - 26.45978432274449, -80.22026462231437. I hear the audio coming from just east of the east canal, while I'm walking along the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge Levee Trail, approximately 2.7 miles south of Lee Road. I've heard it at various times, most recently around 16:00 UTC today, 07/23/2022. I always hear a sports broadcast, however, the broadcast doesn't last long, before switching to a different sport. Maybe it stays on one sport for a minute or so before switching. Today, I heard a baseball game, followed by what appeared to be some kind of auto-racing segment. In the past, I've heard, basketball, soccer, and hockey. The broadcasts are always frequently (every 30-60 seconds or so) interrupted by what sounds like a roger beep. Today, I heard several instances of one beep, and several instances of two beeps. I wasn't diligent enough to figure out whether the sports changed after the beeps.
I can hear the broadcast for approximately another 1/4 mile from where I first hear it, but I don't know whether multiple radios are involved, each playing the same audio, or if maybe the acoustics of the area help the sound travel. I can't see anything, because high, thick shrubbery separates the canal from the audio source, but it's very close. I can't physically investigate, because alligators and unknown water levels make crossing the canal life threatening.
Edit - Here is a recording of the audio that has several beeps in the middle of the segment. It sounded much closer and clearer with my own ears.
Does anybody know what this is?
