What scanner would you get for around $200

Just wondering what scanner's I should get for around $200. This will be my first and I dont know alot about them. I live in pa also

It all depends on what frequency range and options your looking for in a scanner. I myself being more interested in basic scanners would recommend the Pro-82, Pro-83 or Pro-84 for handheld models or the Pro-2017 or Pro-2018 for base models. Hope this helps!

If you don't know alot about them, it might be better for you to tell us what you want to listen to and where exactly. You may be a bit disappointed in what you can listen in on if your hopes are to listen to law enforcement and your area is digital.

Yes, please tell folks what you are interested in listening to.

What county/city are you in? Your area may be all digital trunked or you may be in an area that has remained conventional for the time being.

Would you like a base/mobile scanner or a handheld unit?

Personally, I am a big fan of Uniden. I like their arrangements of frequency banks better than Radio Shack. But that is just my preference.

I primarily use a Uniden 996 base/mobile unit. Still have 780, 785 base units. Love'em all.

Software is THE way to program.

hello i just got me a pro -97 for under 200$ amof 149.00 1000 channels ,i say its a great deal ,just so you know,take care

I am in indiana co. in pa. I just wanted to get the one i could get the most out of. I didnt want to get one for a $100 when for 200 I could hear 3 times as much or alot better quality. I was hoping to get a base/mobile. I dont really know what I would listen to yet.

If you want to spend around $200 now I would look at the Uniden BCT15 or the new GRE PSR-400 which isn't out quite yet. They will have features you can't use locally but with a good antenna system your options would increase.
