i replied to this same question a few days ago. your local pd and fd will be best. if bad weather ensues then add in your local road crews.

Still a very vague answer. Are there events happening around you? Knowing nothing about your listening interests or who you're looking to monitor, I can suggest amateur radio or citizen band radio... You'll probably hear something interesting on those bands

I had a little fun on NYE 2013... made an ICS-205 for my "Scanitarium"... before LCSO went ENC on StarCom. Bad weather was forecast that night so I had LCSO, LCDOT (snowplows) on one scanner, local PD on another, local PW (snowplows again) on a ham rig, and LC RACES on another ham rig. Fun times!
