Hello,

I am just wondering what kind of things you might hear on the ICOM receivers. I know they can receive up to 3Ghz. Wondering who is using these freqs. I have seen the US Coast Guard uses Freqs above that…

What Can I hear?

In short, nothing useful. You need a home-built antenna and pre-amps to monitor satellites. It's fine if you have the $$ to spend on it.

3 ghz starts the C band satellite band, I recommend a 7 ft dish to begin with. I always wanted to hear the swish-swush of the airport's radar, but they don't start until 24ghz.
