OMG!! The new dispatcher is very very annoying.

I have never heard a dispatcher use the term "uh" as much as this one does. Not only that but her voice is really annoying also.

Anyone else in the wheeling area agree???

OH YEAH especially when she's on night turn and I'm trying to sleep.... It really seems like wheeling hires the worst voiced OR non-intelligent people as dispatchers... not that all of them are annoying or stupid but in the past 15 years, a number of them have been or currently are.... I have never heard dispatchers talk so slow on any other agency anywhere other than wheeling/ohio co. (how about the guy that sounds like a computer voice).

lol ... yea he is pretty funny.!

Wheeling does not require any type of experience in emergency dispatching I think that is where the problem lies. I wanted to apply but you have to live in the city limits of Wheeling and I just bought my house here in Ohio so there went that idea.

Anyway from what I have been told by a few members of the FD and PD the only things that are required is the ability to type , multitask and read :)

Enjoy mylan , you know you like her :D

Wow, here in Raleigh County the last time I talked to someone about it. You had to have a clean record from any tickets, minor warrants, and have no felonies or had major warrants and if you get a ticket or anything bad against you after you are hired, then you would be fired. Also if your spouse get’s into trouble it may also get you fired. After all that you also must take and pass the civil test, a geographic of the area tests (ie. townships, city limits, streets, and directions, and some common places to locate). They review those then place you to another class for typing test then a mock test and then decide who they want to hire.
