Does anyone know of a source for a Service Manual for the R-2500 / PCR2500 receiver?
Thanks,

I have Icoms, Kenwods, etc. I know that Kenwood offers their service manuals through one of their regional service centers. I would assume (take that with a grain of salt) that Kewood may do the same. Just did some research and found a phone number for Icom America in Belleview WA. It is 425-454-7619. I do not know if any of the major dealers of Icom, etc. sell them as well, you may want to check that out. If you are interested in doing reasearch on Icom of America, check out thier website. I hope that this or information from others, will help.

HRO has the Service Manual for the IC-PCR2500 listed but not shown as in stock. I don't know if the IC-R2500 (head unit) is included or not. There isn't a listing for a IC-R2500 Service Manual. I think most of these are on CDs (or maybe DVDs) these days.

Thanks, guys.
I tried Icom, but without success. There is a place in the UK which has the manual (on a CD) listed on their website. However, they don't have it in stock either.
Oh well, I guess I just keep looking.....

Thanks aar9sm,
yes, they were the people I had tried before. They say that they still have not received the CDs from Icom. The additional problem is that the CD costs about $100, and shipping from the UK is another $50 or so. If all else fails, I might just bite the bullet, but I think I will explore other possibilities first.
On the other hand it would be interesting to get a service manual for the unblocked version (I have the Japanese version). Comparing the Theory of Operation section with the one in a US service manual, might shed some light on Icom's method of blocking certain frequencies. This would then be the ultimate backup for nravid's modifications.
I will post again when I get the manual.

I got one directly from Icom. Unless they are out of stock, there shouldn't be any problem ordering one from them.

Thanks!!! I had called them this morning, but it looks like I talked to the wrong person. I will try again tomorrow. At least now that I know that they have them, I can be a little more persistent.
BTW, how much did the manual cost?
Thanks,

It's not cheap - I think about $60. But it's not like you've got any other options.

That is actually not bad for a service manual. I was prepared to buy one from the UK for $100 plus $50 shipping.

I just went thru some old posts. I came across "ANTHONY HAUKAP'S SITE". Do a search, and you'll find it. It does list a lot of service manuals. I did not have time to check for your model, but you may want to give it a try. It has a lot of info on a lot of stuff.
