How many of you remember Swiss Radio International? Do you know where the transmitters ended up and who they are being used by? LOL

This will make you laugh, but in 2004 Switzerland sold them to the DPRK (North Korea). So the old SRI transmitters are now being used by Voice of Korea. Of course in the short time the DPRK has had these the condition is not the same.

Just thought you might be interested.

Cool story. It's great to have the Voice of Korea broadcasting because it is one of the few ways we can obtain "news" about the imperialist Americans and praise for the Dear Leader

Actually that's not entirely true. I fired off a question to my old friend Bob Zanotti, who was kind enough to answer (below)...

2 of the 250 kW's went to North Korea. (North Korea was a regular customer for used Swiss telecom equipment for years).

2 TX's went to the old AWR Forli, Italy, which is now defunct. One of those was sold to an American religious group, but was apparently never activated. What happened to the other one I don't know.

The 3rd TX went to a museum in France.
