There are two nylon style carrying cases for the 396T, XT, and 346XT radios.

One is available from Scanner Master. The keypad and display sections have separate clear plastic areas, however, the display is slightly cut off on the top.

Look here: Uniden Nylon Case with Belt Loop

The second is available from Grove Enterprises. The keypad and display sections are not separate sections of plastic, rather it is one continuous piece. Also, looks like the speaker holes are a little high.

Look here: Uniden NC-396T Nylon Case at

So, if you have either of these for your radio, Let me know what you think, your experience with them.

Thanks,

Here are some things that I see that may help you. Keep in mind that I do not have any of the cases.

The Scanner Master and Scanner World cases appear to require removal of the scanner's native "button" on the back. With that in mind, the Scanner World case has a "D Ring" which still allows the scanner to swivel while attached to your belt. The Scanner Master case has a snapped belt loop which will stop the scanner from moving (swiveling) on your belt, but can be harder to quickly remove (there are those who prefer this over a swivel case). The Scanner World case is actual leather which tends to offer a little more than just scratch protection. The Scanner Master case is nylon, some protection if droppped, but IMHO, not as much protection as leather. The Grove case allows you to keep and use the scanner's button for the belt clip, but it doesn't look like much more then scratch protection to me.

Just my opinions from looking at the three cases... ask five 5 people, and you're likely to get 10 more opinion. I hope you find something you like!

I'm not a huge fan of belt cases. Especially when using something other than the stock antenna - which is pretty much always.
I have one of these: THERMITE VERSIPACK Tactical Nylon Gear Hip Waist Bag with Leg Strap - MAXPEDITION HARD-USE GEAR Tactical Nylon Gear for Military, Law Enforcement, Tactical Concealed Carry; Tailored to Perform Tactical it carries the scanner AND all the other crap that goes along with life these days; wallet, phone, etc.
It takes a bit to get used to but it is really handy. It allows the antenna to stand up without getting bent against your body. I use the Diamond RHF40 flexible antenna and it can be bent over and into the main comparment for a lower profile.
Mine is black. Nobody has ever called it a "murse" (man purse) or *** bag. Never.
Despite looking like a holster - it cruises right through airport security in the grey bin without a second look.

Fortunately, GA
I got the NC-396T case with my 396XT from HRO. It is a poor fitting case. It is not a snug fit. I would go with the case from Scannermaster that is either leather, or nylon with the swivel style D ring. Much more convenient access to the scanner.

I don't use the case for carrying on my belt, it's for protecting the radio no matter where I put it. I have the NC version and have tried the other: both sag and block the top row of the display.

I have the nylon one from ScannerMaster. It is okay, but the top of the display is covered up a little (can't see "HOLD" at the top when hold function is enabled). To me, the worst part is that I need a nice large metal belt clip on the back (like the one on my Pro-106 nylon case) instead of the snaps. I don't wear a belt, and I want to attach it to my back pocket when my hands are full of keys, dog leash, etc. Anyone know of a 346XT case with clip?
