To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Which version of RPM is this XG-100P firmware compatible with?

I'm helping a fellow forum member set-up and program an XG-100P and I'm not exactly sure how old this firmware is or which version of RPM it's compatible with. The firmware version is 12082-8900 2.0.18

Is it possible that it could be compatible with RPM10B07?

That is pre-XGP firmware back when the radio was in development. You are MANY versions behind. XLP is current-gen firmware, XGP was before that, this is ECP firmware which is over a decade old.

You'll need to upgrade this radio in several steps to get it up to par, and probably need a feature update as this firmware predates a lot of capabilities that were added in XGP.

Upgrade path would be ECP R04, then XGP R02 then the latest XLP R06M03.

I have XGP R02 and XLP R06. However, I do not have ECP R04 or any other pre-XGP firmware.

Is there any chance that RPM10B07 is compatible with the existing firmware or the earlier CPA programming software?

Thank you very much for the info. Much appreciated.

It would probably be safe, there was a tremendous amount of changes between ECP and XGP so expect a lot of weirdness. My recommendation would be:
1. Copy down the feature data string AND the actual features enabled in the menu
2. Factory reset the radio and let it fully boot up. Should just show "VHF Hi" on the display if you are on channel A1
3. Load XGP R02, boot the radio up. Factory reset it again.
4. Verify the features from step 1, some likely disappeared or appeared. Any features with a number instead of a name are not supported by the radio.
5. Load XLP R06, verify the features again. Program to taste.

The upgrade from XGP to XLP is much more stable and shouldn't present any problems. The big one will be features. I've seen a number of those development radios with ECP R02/03/04 firmware end up with no features at all once upgraded, or at least very basic. Don't be shocked if "INVALID SYSTEM" pops up on the reboot from ECP to XGP.

Would L3Harris or anyone for that matter be able to update the firmware on my "bricked" XG100P?

Someone with the correct firmware should be able to get this radio to work with RPM 14, if its actually bricked in the sense that it does not operate then it would need to go to TAC for service which A. isn't cheap and B. might get rejected because the radio is end of life.

I contacted L3Harris about my firmware and was referred to a local to me Harris dealer. Spoke with the tech and he assured me that updating the firmware would not be an issue. Boy I hope he's right. Taking it in tomorrow to see if it's true.

It's not bricked. The mission plans are not activating when programming the radio with RPM14. Which in this case is likely an incompatibility between the firmware and the programming software versions.

Issue is being resolved. Seller will be sending him another radio that already has RPM14 compatible firmware and more features than the one he initially had.
