Why was the diagonal between Boulder and Longmont closed down both ways in the wee hours this morning? When SWMBO finally managed to schlepp herself to bed this morning she mentioned that she was hearing all sorts of talk about the diagonal being closed down both ways. When I figured out what she was muttering about and schlepped myself out to the scanners they weren't talking about the `why' only questioning `when' they figured they might be able to get it open. I `think' it was sometime around 04:30 - 04:45 that I heard one officer say that they had finally gotten the Longmont bound lanes open but cannot absolutely pinpoint those times.

Just an `Olde Fart's' questioning. {WAN GRIN!}

I looked at my LEU pager this morning after coming home from work and noticed two pages for traffic control along the diagonal for traffic lights out and multiple accidents (must be related) around 230 this morning

Any idea of just how windy it was there around that time? We had some fairly decent gusts and sustained speeds up to 25 -35 MPH out here on the`flat' by Platteville just a tad bit before the time you mentioned. From both haved lived in Boulder in the past and observations over quite a few years out here Boulder seems to get easily double or more wind speeds than we do. I wouldn't be surprised if they may have had gust somewhere between 70 - 100 MPH here and there around Boulder and between there and Longmont.

Just an `Olde Fart's' 2¢ worth.
